Dr. Ed Sobek is a renowned, published, microbiologist and environmental health expert dedicated to advancing indoor air quality through cutting-edge scientific research and product innovation. As the Chief Science Officer for AEIRO, he continues to drive groundbreaking solutions that enhance air quality management and environmental health.
Dr. Sobek is the founder of Assured Bio Labs, LLC, where, since 2005, he has led the development of innovative air monitoring technologies, including the WhisperCare® system and the M-TRAP® cassette, both designed to tackle complex air quality challenges. His deep expertise in microbiology and the chemistry of the built environment has enabled more precise detection and mitigation of airborne contaminants, ensuring safer indoor spaces.
In addition to his leadership at AEIRO, Dr. Sobek has spent 21 years as a Senior Research Scientist for the Center for Environmental Biotechnology, focusing on Biological and Chemical Indoor Environmental Research. His extensive research in volatile organic compounds (VOCs) has been crucial in assessing and mitigating airborne chemical pollutants, further reinforcing his commitment to improving indoor air quality.
Previously, he served as Chief Science Officer at GPS Air, where he played a key role in advancing air purification technologies and shaping industry standards. Dr. Ed holds a PhD in Mycology, Fungal Ecology, and Statistics from Texas Tech University. He also earned an MBA in Healthcare Administration/Management from the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee.
